How to search your X (Twitter) bookmarks
The short answer
On X, your bookmarks are under History → Bookmarks. Depending on your app and X plan, there's a keyword box that matches exact words. To find a post by what it was about instead, bring your bookmarks into stashd and describe it the way you remember it: “that thread about pricing too low” finds it even when none of those words are in the post.
Where your X bookmarks are
On the web, open History → Bookmarks in X's side menu (or go straight to x.com/i/history and pick the Bookmarks tab). In the X app, Bookmarks is in the side menu or under History, depending on your app version. Bookmarks are private: nobody else can see what you've saved.
What X's own search can do
X shows your bookmarks newest first, in one list. At the time of writing, some versions of the app have a keyword box on the Bookmarks page, and paid X plans add folders. Both have the same weak spot: you have to remember the exact words in the post, or have filed it in the right folder when you saved it.
Most people remember the gist instead. You saved a post about “recruiting your first engineer”, but you search for “hiring”. Exact-word search misses it.
Search your bookmarks by meaning with stashd
- Bring your bookmarks in. Sign up free with Google, email or X. Connect X and your 50 most recent bookmarks arrive in about a minute, on any device. For your full history, the browser extension scrolls your bookmarks page for you on a computer.
- Let it sort. Each bookmark gets a type (tool, prompt, tutorial, take, news…), a topic, the tools it mentions and a plain title. There are no folders to set up.
- Search the way you remember. Type a description, not keywords: “the prompt that makes the AI list files before coding”, “Supabase row level security walkthrough”, “that post about charging from day one”. Then narrow it with filters for topic, type, tool, media and date.
You can try this on a sample library right now, without signing up: open the live demo.
Tips for finding an old bookmark
- Describe the idea, not the wording. “Cheap way to host a side project” works better than guessing a title.
- Use a filter when you remember the format. If it was a video or had a screenshot, filter by media. If it named a tool, filter by that tool.
- Mark it To revisit when you find it, so it waits on its own list instead of getting lost again.
Questions
Can I search my X bookmarks for free?
On X, it depends on your app and plan: some versions have a keyword box that matches exact words. stashd's Free plan searches your bookmarks by meaning at no cost, starting with your 50 most recent and anything you bring in with the browser extension (up to 500 posts).
Why can't I find a bookmark I know I saved?
Usually because you're searching for words that aren't in the post. Search by meaning, or browse the topic it would be filed under. If you saved it a long time ago, bring in your full history with the browser extension first.
Is searching my bookmarks with stashd private?
Yes. Your library is private to you, stashd only gets read-only access to X, and your saves are never sold or used to train AI models.
